Somatic guidance is a form of talk therapy that focuses on the connection between Mind and Body. I am currently in a Somatic Psychology Master’s program at the California Institute of Integrative Studies. My studies are focused on psychodynamics, neuropsychology, and somatic psychology. I am eligable to sit for Therapist licensure if I chose to.
At this time, I am choosing to not pursue licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist. For you a future client, I want you to know why I have chosen a non licensure path, yet I still hold individual and group sessions.
As a professional in the healing Arts field since 1996, I chose to continue to stay licensed as a profession Somatic Bodyworker. In addition, I have chosen the licensure as a Yoga Therapist to be more inclusive in my belief around healing. Using Yogic philosophy and body movements offers a broader range of looking at Psychological patterns rather than addressing these in a binary system. I believe that my work offers my clients a broader view on what previously has been their diagnosis in depression, anxiety, dissociation, trauma, PTSD, chronic pain etc.
For those of you new to my work and you are working with significant situations where you are on mediaction etc. My work is supportive in a collaborative approach. It is very useful to have as many tools as possible in healing. As you develope your team of support, I invite you to consider how the integration of Mind/Body offers healing not just from the Mental or Top Down but from the Body, bottom up.
To be clear, offering you the client full disclosure so you are able to make an informed choice, my work is about organizing and integration. Talk sessions work with the mental scripts and then we bring these patterns into the body. I chose to work from the lens of Neuropsychology, Shamanic Healing, Yogic Philosophy and Somatic Bodywork.
Please take the opportunity for a free consult to see if my work is right for you.
I look forward to being part of your team!
